Devotional: It’s In the Book
(A very special devotional in Memory of Bryan Hunt, written by Sharon Hunt)
Scripture: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever
believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16
Reflection: Growing up in the mountains, I had the gift of a Godly grandmother whose faith was
as steady as the hills around us. She had a phrase for every struggle I brought to her: “It’s in the
Book.” Whether I was heartbroken, angry, or confused, she would remind me that the Bible held
the answers. I didn’t always listen—but she never stopped saying it.
When I lost my son Bryan, the pain was indescribable. I don’t remember much from that time,
except one moment: the day after his funeral I went for a walk as I left my yard, I heard her voice
again—“It’s in the Book.” And suddenly, John 3:16 wasn’t just a verse. It was a lifeline. God
knew my pain. He had lived it. He had given up His Son—for me. That is the moment God
became my best friend. That kind of love is beyond comprehension. I wouldn’t give up one of
my sons for anyone—but God did. For all of us.
Application: Whatever you’re facing—grief, confusion, heartbreak—know this: It’s in the Book.
God’s Word holds stories of people who’ve walked through fire and found hope. It’s not just
ancient wisdom—it’s living truth. Share it. Speak it. Like my grandmother did. Because when
you share God’s plan, you impact someone’s today—and prepare them for their tomorrow.
Whatever they are facing…..It’s In The Book.
Prayer: Father, thank You for loving us so deeply that You gave Your Son. Thank You for the
people in our lives who speak Your truth with boldness and love. Help us to turn to Your Word
not just in crisis, but daily. Let it be our comfort, our guide, and our healing. Amen.
